I met Drizzt by chance when I was shopping for a new fantasy read at a bookstore. The clerk recommended it.I read all of those and fell in love with all of the characters.Drizzt does cross paths with Cadderly and that is how we met.I was finishing up the drizzt novels until the Transitions came out and came across this one. The Cleric Quintet would have been great if the story had more direction and really held the reader's attention better.

I think it would have been much better to find a way to link Drizzt with Cadderly and create a new storyline. Salvatore writes that he created this character after the first 6 Drizzt books were finished and thought he was done with the Drow and wanted to move on to new things. The hero is a character you care about but he seems to have the attention span of a gnat and no common sense at all and as a result he keeps getting into bad situations that just seem to get worse. The Dwarves are meant to be funny but they come across as odd since all they do is fight with each other (they're brothers) and it seems that one of them can only say "oo oi" and "doo dad" for some strange reason.

The pace is very slow and the actions of the main characters can often be confusing. This is a good adventure tale but it's just not as much fun or as fast paced as any of the Drizzt stories.
